BRAKING NEWS
Serbia has new European champions in the defensive shooting range
The Serbian Defensive Shooting Association - IDPA participated last weekend in the European Championship in Defensive Shooting Range (IDPA - International Defense Pistol Association), which took place at the BTK shooting range nearby on May 20, 2024. Appearing with 31 representatives, they won 22 awards, of which 6 gold medals (including the European Champion in the SSP division, the European Champion in the Seniors and the European Champion in the Law Enforcement division of Europe, the 5th champion in the ESP (Enhanced Service Pistol) division, as well as the European vice-champion in Lady category), 9 bronze medals and two awards for 4th and 5th place in the most numerous SSP (stock service pistol) division in the SS class.
In addition to individual plasmas, the teams of the Serbian Association for Defensive Archery also took third place in the SSP (Stock Service Pistol) division as well as in the CO (Carry Optic) division, while they only placed third in the ESP (Enhanced Service Pistol) division. .
Bearing in mind that defensive shooting is a relatively young shooting sport in Serbia, as well as that the Serbian Association for Defensive Shooting was founded last year, the result achieved the creation of European political significance, bearing in mind that this was the debut of our team at this prestigious competition which has been organized every other year in Europe for 25 years. This result provides an incentive for the further work of the Association as well as the further development of this sport in Serbia, bearing in mind that next year the World Championship will be organized in the USA, as well as that membership in Europe will be held in Serbia.
Taking into account the above, we hope that the Ministry of Sports as well as competent institutions in the Republic of Serbia will recognize the further development of this shooting sport as well as its importance to the significance of one of our most trophy sports, but also to the Republic of Serbia on the international level.
The Serbian Association for Defensive Archery - IDPA, personal responsibility for the support in achieving the above results at the European Championship is owed by the Association for the practical guidance of the Republic of Serbia and the Serbian IPSC to the support of the Association's gold sponsors - Triglav osiguranje a.d.o. . and Alta Bank.

What is IDPA?
IDPA is the use of practical equipment including live ammunition to solve simulated real-world self-defense scenarios using practical handguns and holsters suitable for self-defense use. The main objective is to test the skill and ability of the individual.
The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) is the shooting sports governing body that simulates self-defense scenarios and real-life encounters. It was founded in 1996 in response to the wishes of shooters around the world. The organization now has more than 25,000 members, including members in 70 foreign countries.
What is IDPA, and how to become a shooter?
First you need to decide if this branch of sport is for you. It is a good idea to read the IDPA Rules. If you have read and decided, you can participate as an unqualified competitor in one match. If you like this story,
the next step is membership in the international IDPA organization ( https://www.idpa.com/membership/ ). On this page you create your IDPA profile, pay the membership fee to the international IDPA Association (for one or three years) and receive your unique IDPA number (RSXXXXXX). After that, you need to choose to join the national IDPA club, which is a member of the Serbian Association for Defensive Shooting - IDPA Serbia ( see Clubs in Serbia page ).
When you become a member of your home club, your club registers you with the Serbian Federation - IDPA Serbia. Then you get a competition ID and a competition booklet. Furthermore, it is necessary to do a SPORTS MEDICAL EXAMINATION (it is not the same as a medical examination for obtaining approval in the MUP) in a reference institution that is accredited for the same . The preview should be entered in the competition booklet and without it you cannot compete and be an IDPA competitor/shooter.
The next step is the competitor/shooter classification ( see rules page ). It is possible to do it with one of the certified referees of the IDPA Serbia association, and or within your home club. Only then, you become a full-fledged IDPA competitor/shooter.
